How this one is different
Every certification body publishes a free gap checklist, and they all ask the same yes-or-no question per clause. This kit weights each sub-clause by how much it changed in 2026, so a modest gap on a requirement that moved outranks a large gap on one that did not, and the ranked list is the transition plan.
How to use it
- Read the 2026 change already filled in for each sub-clause, in plain words.
- Enter your evidence, score the gap, and name the owner and due date.
- Read the ranked gap list: the weighting puts the changed requirements first.
- Work the change log tab for the document references that moved, and keep it as evidence for the certification body.
- Date the transition plan from your own certificate expiry, not from 2029.
- Take the management review report tab to the review that goes on record under the 2026 inputs.
Who it is for
For the quality manager who owns the transition at a certified site. Read the book first if you want the why; run the kit when you want the plan.

The method
A modest gap on a requirement that changed outranks a large gap on one that did not.
Every certification body publishes a free ISO 9001 gap analysis checklist. They are all the same document: a question per clause and a comments column. They identify gaps and stop at exactly the point the work begins — because the work is deciding which gaps matter, and a checklist cannot decide anything.
A gap analysis for the 2026 transition has to make one judgment a flat list cannot: a modest gap on a requirement that changed outranks a large gap on one that did not. Your auditor will spend the transition audit on the changes — quality culture and ethical behavior, the separated handling of risks and opportunities, the strengthened change planning, the renumbered clause 10 — and a system that is 95% conforming on unchanged clauses and 40% on the changed ones is not 90% ready. It is exposed exactly where the audit will look.
So score every sub-clause, weight the score by the change type, rank the result, and take the top of the list to the action plan with a control level attached — because a transition "implemented" entirely through procedures and training is a transition documented, not done.

What it computes for you
Which gaps matter, ranked, and the plan to close them before the transition audit.
- 57 sub-clauses: the 2015 requirement in plain words beside how the 2026 edition changed it, typed New, Expanded, Reworded or Unchanged
- Weighted scoring: each gap scored, then weighted by the change type, so the changed clauses rise to the top
- The complete change log with a what-to-check column, ready for the certification body
- A gap map of the whole standard and the top-10 gaps ranked
- An action plan with owner, due date and a control level on every action
- The eleven-milestone transition plan dated from your own certificate, with a dashboard and the management review input

What you download
The kit.
Yellow cells are yours; white cells calculate. Clause numbers are pointers and every requirement is described in the author’s words; work from your licensed copy of the standard alongside it. Gumroad buyers get every 2026 update free in their library.
Questions
Before you buy.
When should I do the ISO 9001:2026 gap analysis?
Now that the standard is published — not before. Analyses done against the draft have to be redone. The window runs to about September 2029, but if your recertification falls inside it, that audit is your deadline.
Does this reproduce the standard?
No. Clause numbers are pointers and every requirement is described in the author's words. You work from your organization's licensed copy alongside it.
Which Excel version do I need?
Excel 2016 or later on Windows or Mac, or Google Sheets. Every formula is standard: no macros, no add-ins, no external links. In Google Sheets use File → Import → Replace spreadsheet.
What if it does not do what the page says?
Thirty days, no questions. Reply to the receipt email, or write to ryan@qualityfieldguides.com, and it is refunded.
